San Diego, CA, US * July 30, 2017 - August 3, 2017
The finalized program is now available for download! Please do not print--you'll receive a printed copy at the conference. Major kudos to Carson Miller Rigoli for all his work and cover art. Also: We’re trying something new this year—SMPC's first trial of on online conference app, thanks to sponsorship by Whova Event and Conference app, built in San Diego. After downloading the app, you can create your own itinerary,
reach out to other attendees, and create a social community by posting
photos and comments. We know everyone likes a paper program, but we’d
like to know what you like and don’t like about the app version.
See John's suggestions on where to eat, or ask a local when you're here.
We warmly invite you to sunny San Diego for SMPC 2017! SMPC 2017 will be held on campus at the University of California, San Diego. Our lovely campus is a short (but precipitous!) walk to the beach on the west, and framed by mountains to the east. The talk and poster presentation schedules have been finalized. They are listed by abstract submission number, presenting author, and beginning of title. Please take a quick look to make sure your information is correct and let us know by Wed., July 12, 2017. We've worked hard to accommodate everyone's hard constraints. We ask that you not request any further schedule changes unless you have an emergency.
August weather in San Diego is typically sunny, with highs around 76˚ F (25˚ C) and lows around 67˚ F (19˚ C). Due to our microclimates, campus can be a bit cooler, so a light sweater is recommended.
Submissions have closed and decisions have been released, including decisions on student travel awards. The conference registration page is now live. We highly recommend joining SMPC to get a discount on registration! Early registration ended June 15th, 2017. Presenting authors must register by July 1, 2017.
If you plan to stay at a local hotel, we recommend reserving a room very soon, since San Diego is a popular summer destination! Be sure to check out local attractions and other events taking place in San Diego around the conference in case you want to arrive early or stay around.
Our keynote speaker will be Diana Deutsch, Professor Emerita of Psychology at UC San Diego and 2016 recipient of the Audio Engineering Society's Gold Medal Award.
Our kickoff speaker will be Jessica Grahn, Associate Professor at Western University in the Brain and Mind Institute and the Department of Psychology.
San Diego is host to a large number of attractions, including many family-friendly options like the world-famous San Diego Zoo and historic Balboa Park. For grown-ups, San Diego is a mecca for microbreweries, and many wineries wind up here. | ![]() UC San Diego Publications, (c) Regents of the University of California |
